Tips For Making a Big Room Appear Smaller
If you have noticed trends today it’s indeed very big spacious rooms with wood flooring and high ceilings. For those who enjoy living in these big rooms, they are very nice living areas. The problem is they tend to be rather cold and disconnected.
If your like a lot of people, you want this cozy atmosphere art home. Discover a couple of secrets that can make you large living space cozy. If you are thinking about starting with paint, think dark colors. A darker shade of paint is nice because it can bring a feeling of warmth to a cold living space.
The use of lighter colors in the room can make it appear alot bigger then it is, and by using more neutral earth tone colors it can appear much smaller and cozy. If the ceilings are really high and you would like them to appear lower, paint the ceiling with the darker color. Less lighting in the room will make it feel smaller because it is darker.
Using large plants in your room can bring it in and give an additional smaller illusion. If you use smaller sizes you will have a cluttered effect.
Another secret is using oversized furniture that rather swallows up the space. You might use groupings of furniture. You can divide up a very large room into three different areas so that you have a space for watching TV, reading books and playing board games.
It is now after the fact that you have created areas in your room that you can now specify them. The use of oversized rugs is the answer. By making use of a large area rug you can create warmth and add interest as well as connect all the groupings together. It’s a good idea to have two different size rugs to have because having two of the same will split the room. You can also try and experiment with Turkish rugs which will spice up and add unique flavor to the room.
