Is the space for your bathroom extremely small? If so, this can be difficult to work with. Whether you are remodeling your small bathroom or building a new home and only have limited space for the bathroom, the right bathroom floor plans can really help you make the most of even a small space.
Of course when you only have a small area for your bathroom, you are going to have to pay more attention to the plans so that you get everything just right. With that in mind, here are some planning tips for creating the best bathroom possible in a small area.
Color and Lighting can make a Difference
The first thing to do is choose a great color scheme for your bathroom. No matter what you decide on for the floor plan, the color scheme and lighting choices are going to be very important. While the floor plan is important for function the right choice of color and lights can instantly make a bathroom feel much bigger than it actually is and do away with the closet feeling you may have otherwise.
Avoid Accessories of Appliances that Stick Out
Appliances and fixtures that stick out are something you definitely want to avoid when creating your bathroom floor plans. When they stick out into the bathroom, they take up space you cannot afford to lose. Go with smaller appliances or fixtures that stick close to the walls. This way you have more floor space available and the bathroom looks bigger.
Vertical Lines
Vertical lines are an excellent addition to the bathroom decor when you are dealing with a small space. It can provide more height in your bathroom. Consider having tiling that goes from floor to ceiling. You can even go with wall paper in the bathroom that incorporates vertical stripes. This way you get the illusion of height.
Add Mirrors for a Better Look
Most bathrooms have a mirror over the sink, but did you know that a couple more well placed mirrors could make the room look bigger? The reflection in the mirror opens the room. Place a few decorative mirrors around the bathroom and you have instantly added the appearance of square footage.
Consider a Shower Instead of a Tub
When you are creating your bathroom floor plans for a smaller bathroom, think about having an area for a shower instead of having the full tub. Tubs are nice and everyone likes them but they take up a lot of needed floor space in a smaller bathroom. A shower on the other hand will not take up so much room and leave you will more floor space to work with.
Designing bathroom remodeling plans when you are limited on space can be frustrating but it can be done. Keep these ideas in mind. They’ll help you design a bathroom that looks wonderful, even though it is on the small side.
