Office Decor Ideas – Painting Tips

When looking for new office decor ideas, one of the easiest areas to tackle is your color scheme. Simply changing the color scheme of your office can makeover your office with dramatic effects.

When choosing colors for a room, it is important to consider the size of the room and whether you want to enhance it’s features or change the current perception of the room. Some basic rules on color are outlined below and should be kept in mind when decorating your office.

  • Dark ceilings – dark ceilings will make your office appear shorter
  • Cool colors – cool colors will make the walls appear farther away
  • Dark walls – dark color walls will make your office appear smaller
  • White walls – whiate or light color walls will reflect light and make your office appear larger
  • Warm colors – warm colors will make the walls appear closer

Using these color rules can give you a good starting point. If you want your office space to appear a certain way, or assume a certain trait, this will give you a starting point from which to work.

Taking a page from Feng Shui color combinations, we can also explore some particular color pairings.

Black and white – this represents yin and yang and balance. This color combination may be good for corporate offices or boardrooms.

Silver and Dark Purple – another yin and yang color combination, however, this particular combo also carries a strong symbolism of money.

Red and Gold – this color combination is considered very bright and is a symbol of good fortune.

Blue and Black – this combination would work well for those businesses having to do with paper or wood, publishers for instance.

Blue and Green – a combination that stresses the water element, a good selection for your business if you deal with water or liquid.

Earth tones – these colors convey a warm and inviting feeling

Once you have your color scheme chosen, you next need to decide whether you want a solid color, a pattern or a combination of both. You can add shapes and lines to add some contrast in your office space. Any lined shape, rectangles, triangles, diamonds will work well. You do not need to add the shapes or lines to every wall to have a dramatic effect, consider three walls of solid color with one wall containing your pattern for contrast.

This can help avoid making your office decor come across as over the top. For additional office decorating ideas you can add circular art to the walls, which will balance out the shapes or lines you have chosen to include. A clock is a good example of something that would contrast something like a triangle pattern. This will help to soften up the office space.

By incorporating a new color scheme, you can dramatically transform your office decor. Additionally, this is one of our office design ideas that can be done for very little money. For the cost of a few cans of paint, you can completely transform what used to be a drab office into something new and exciting.

As an added bonus to a great new office, you may also see your production rise after the new office design is put into place. Just feeling good about your work space can really make a profound impact on your state of mind. More production and less stress from a few simple coats of paint, what a deal!
