Many people want to be a little bit different when it comes to painting a room. Instead of having the room one or two colors, why not try something different by using a weird pattern on the wall as well.
What I am talking about is, say if you have just painted your bathroom and it still does not have just the right sort of flair. You can take an old feather duster and a small can of paint that will highlight the color of the bathroom, dip the feather duster in the paint about ? inch, this will put just a small amount of paint on the feathers; then quickly dab the feather duster on the wall in no distinct pattern at all. This will make small specks on the wall. If the paint is a little thick in some areas, do not worry about it, the extra paint will give it a different dimension.
Even if you do something that you really do not like, you can paint over the feather duster’s marks and start again once the paint is dry. When you do make a mistake, always let the paint dry, before you try to fix it. If you do not wait for the paint to dry, you could end up with a really bad mixture of colors. Then you would have to repaint the wall over again.
You do not have to use a feather duster; you can find all sorts of sponges and designs, which are pre-cut into many different shapes in the paint department. If you do not see a design or a shape that you like, simply purchase a couple of sponges in squares, and cut them into a design that you like. For instance, you could cut them into the shape of a bunch of balloons; or into a three-stripe pattern, just by cutting out the center between the lines.
Another idea is to design a stripe pattern on the wall. Use a 6-foot level as a straight edge and measure from the edge of the room approximately 6 inches and make a mark at both ends of the straight edge, then measure another mark ? inch from the first one, then move another 4 inches and make another mark. Next, if you would like a wide strip you can move your mark 6 to 8 inches. Then on the other side of the wide strip do the same as you did on the first side, then you can take another color such as white and make your strip pattern.
