Decorating Using What You Already Have

Take a good hard look at the room that you would want to decorate and decide on the changes that you want to make. Do you want it lighter, brighter, more colorful, with a little more sophistication perhaps or a little more casual.

Stand from the doorway and make a good assessment. Study the traffic pattern, the manner in which the room is lighted and the way sunlight reflects into the room. Notice the furniture and the furnishings and according to the idea that you have in your mind, decide what furniture and accessories to keep and what to take out. You wouldn’t want furniture standing in the way of activity. Often, the cheapest home decoration has been achieved by a simple rearrangement of furniture, beds, colors and lighting.

In the course of the stay in a house, accessories and other collections had been bought and some times this too will need rearranging. Combine them into groups together with the other accessories that you found in the other rooms in the house. By combining these pieces of artwork and accessories, you would come out with the best groupings for a particular scheme and motif that you would want a particular room to have.

If you have to purchase other items to add more accents to a room, keep it to a minimum. Remember that you already have other items and accessories and these are the themes that you have decided to accent. Unrelated accessories will defeat your purpose. Buying accessories could start another excitement and a buying spree that will also defeat a your purpose to having a cheap home décor.
