Bathroom Remodeling Tips – Remodeling Your Bathroom to Compliment Your Home

So, you’ve finally decided that the old bathroom has to go. Now it’s time to start on a bathroom remodel. While it’s very tempting to go out and start purchasing all the dream fixtures you’ve wanted for the bathroom, you’ll end up with a bad remodel and a broke bank account if you choose this option. With some great bathroom remodeling tips, you can make your bathroom remodeling experience go smoothly with great results that won’t break the bank. Here’s a look at top tips that will help you remodel your bathroom to compliment your home.

Bathroom Remodel

Consider the Style of the Bathroom
When you are planning to remodel your bathroom, you need to consider the style of the bathroom. It’s important that you choose a style that not only goes with your taste, but that will look great with the rest of the home as well. If you have a ranch home, then a Victorian bathroom may not look the best. So, consider the rest of your home’s d?cor when you are choosing a style for the bathroom. Going with simple styles and clean lines for the bathroom is a great idea if you aren’t sure which styles are best going to fit your home.

Bathroom Remodeling Ideas

Keep the Available Space in Mind
Another of the important bathroom remodeling tips to remember is to keep the available space in mind when you are remodeling your bathroom. If you have a huge bathroom, then you are very fortunate. However, some people have small bathrooms that are difficult to deal with. Before you start coming up with a remodeling plan, you need to be aware of the space limitations that you have in the bathroom. This way you know what is going to be possible in that bathroom. The last thing you want is a bathroom that is so cramped that you can barely turn around. So, make sure that you know how much space you are working with and keep this in mind as you plan your bathroom remodel.

Bathroom Accessories

Come Up with a Great Layout
You’ll also need to come up with a great layout for your bathroom. Sometimes the wrong remodel can end up making your bathroom even worse if you don’t lay out the bathroom the right way. If you go with the larger fixtures that are so popular today, your bathroom may end up more cramped than it was before. Before you even get started on the project, you need to consider the layout. Figure out the best layout to make use of the space that you have. Decide on whether you want a two sink vanity or a one sink one and figure out whether you want a tub and shower combo or just a stand up shower. Sometimes you may need to adjust your wants to fit in with the needs of the bathroom.

Go with Excellent Lighting
Excellent lighting in a bathroom is imperative. It’s difficult to take care of grooming in a bathroom that has very little light. So, you need to take the lighting into consideration. There should be plenty of light above the sink and in the shower area as well. Make sure that the lighting compliments the paint colors as well. You don’t want the light to make you look weird. Natural light for the bathroom should be your aim. Also, you need to have plenty of light without overdoing it. Look for great lighting options that are cost effective.

Choose Items that Make Maintenance Easy
When you are choosing items for your bathroom, one of the most important bathroom remodeling tips to remember is to make choices that are going to make maintenance easy in the future. Cleaning the bathroom probably isn’t your favorite thing. So, you want to go with fixtures and bathroom surfaces that will make it easy to clean. Choose items that resist mold, stains, and water marks. This way your bathroom is much easier for you to clean.

Proper Seating Key to Home Theater Enjoyment

There are a lot of things that go into creating the perfect home theater that many people may never consider when purchasing individual components, pieces, and parts. A good home theater is much more than a place to go and watch television at night; it is a movie and television viewing experience. You need to make sure that you are creating a room that is not merely comfortable for one or two people but for everyone that will be enjoying the opportunity to view movies, films, or television in this room.

One way to ensure that everyone will be comfortable and easily able to view the screen and consequently enjoy the experience you will also want to pay close attention to the seating you choose for your home theater. There are many different seating options for the average home theater system. Some of the most popular at the moment is what is considered the ‘theater recliner’. In fact, many home theater lovers prefer watching movies at home for the comfort of the seating alone. I do however recommend including options for people to put their feet up (my number one complaint when it comes to going to actual theaters). Most theater recliners allow this option.

The theater recliner is appealing to many because it has armrests for each person and a place to hold your drinks. You do not have to set tables in between, the seats can be lined up next to one another and you can enjoy each others company while watching your favorite movie or television show. There is nothing like enjoying the theater atmosphere in the comfort of your home.

In addition to the theater recliner, if you want a more retro feel in your home theater or to set up ‘bistro’ tables you can opt for lounger chairs in your home theater. This is great if you plan to have a lot of pizza night movie experiences or have small children that need a table in order to eat and watch television or movies or even to enjoy other quiet activities while you are enjoying movies and television. It’s a great way to bring a nice family feel to your home theater.

If the seating types above are anything but appealing to your sensibilities you just might find that there is no place like home for watching movies and nothing more comfortable than a nice big comfy couch. I personally love the comfort of a big soft sofa with warm snuggly blankets, especially in the wintertime for enjoying movies. It’s a great way for the kids to pile up together and enjoy serious cuddle time while watching the latest Disney flick or even Saturday morning cartoons. Who wants to invest a small fortune on a home theater that isn’t used for everyday viewing at any rate?

If you want to make your home theater exceptionally kid friendly you can opt for some funky furniture for your little ones to enjoy. This will keep everyone happy, no one fighting for a favorite seat, and a much more peaceful movie viewing experience all around. If you want to be the coolest parent on the block you can include some extras of this trendy special kid furniture for those times when visitors are present.

There are many things involved in building the perfect home theater system for you and your family. Creating the perfect comfortable atmosphere in which to enjoy your theater is a great way to make this room the most often used room in the house and bring the family together each and every night for something other than dinner. If you want to experience even more from your home theater seating be sure to include storage for pillows and blankets close at hand for those nights when a little extra warmth or a pillow to hide behind is just what the situation merits. Have fun trying out the many options for home theater seating and choose the seats that you feel will work best for your family.

How To Properly Maintain Your Antique Leather Chair

In the past, only the richest among us were able to afford placing leather chairs in their homes. However, ever since lifestyles, salary levels, and buying habits changed, more and more people are now able to buy their own leather chairs.

In fact, there really is nothing stopping most of us from purchasing antique versions of leather chairs, if we want to. Buying one is an expensive endeavor, but for the quality that is offered by good leather, the purchase is well worth the investment.

Just like everything else in our homes, the best way for us to preserve our furniture is to take good care of them. And we can do so by cleaning them weekly. In the case of antique leather furniture, however, a certain set of cleaning guidelines need to be followed.

If you don’t use your antique leather chair much, you can simply get the job done by wiping it with a soft piece of cloth. But if it has seen its best days with you already, you might want to rid of deep seated dirt by using a vacuum cleaner or a soft bristled brush.

In the case of spills, you must blot the stained area immediately. Never wipe it off or it might spread and become permanent. After which, attempt to get the stain off by rubbing it lightly with a piece of cloth that has been dampened with mild soap and water. Before you make any moves or apply any product, though, you must first check the furniture’s tag to see whether it should be cleaned in a specific way.

There are many types of leather. So, the value of your antique leather chair depends on its make. With this in mind, how your antique leather chair is cleaned will also depend on what leather variant it is made of.

Do not simply assume that all cleaning methods work for all types of leather. There are leather kinds that should not be cleaned with water, while some need to be cleansed using a special kind of oil.

Leather chairs are already pricey as they are, and if they are also antiques, they are all the more expensive. Therefore, you should care for your antique leather furniture more thoroughly. The above tips do not necessarily work for all kinds of leather, but they at least give you a general idea on what to do. AGain, before making any moves, check the tag first.

More Students Selecting Home Redesign Education

Educational costs are soaring even as the economy is plummeting, making the price tag of a classical interior design course shoot off the charts. That’s why many smart students are opting instead to go into redesign staging which doesn’t require a degree to get started.

Here are a few of the essential benefits to starting a career in interior redesign rather than traditional design according to Barbara Jennings, director of the Academy of Staging and Redesign.

1) No college degree needed for redesign – To properly prepare for an interior design education that leads to a career, a student typically must receive a Bachelor’s Degree at an accredited 4 year college or design school. Four years is a long time to wait to enter the field as an employee or entrepreneur.

2) Little to no risk to start a redesign business – Interior design involves time consuming and costly investments in samples, vendor books, products and operations. Building up a clientele can be long and arduous. Errors happen that can also be costly and non-recoupable. However redesign has almost no risk and start-up costs are low.

3) Projects are completed in one day for fast rewards – Projects in traditional design can become quite extensive, involving many permits and contractors. Delays and problems are commonplace. However, in redesign, the essence of the service is working with the furniture and accessories the client already owns and projects are typically completed in half day or full day sessions.

4) Costs associated with learning are low – The expense of a four year degree at a college prevent many people from entering the interior design field. Those that do are often left with huge loans to repay. Re-designers can train quickly through home study courses and repay their costs immediately with fees charged to one or two clients.

5) Associated services, like real estate staging, are easily incorporated – Additional lucrative services can easily be incorporated into a redesign business, such as real estate staging, color consultation, floral design, party decorating, shopping services and a host of others. Since the services are simplified, the life of a re-designer is much more carefree and adaptable.

“One designer I know transposed code numbers on a commercial installation of carpeting. All the carpeting had to be torn out and replaced and tens of thousands of dollars had to be absorbed by the designer at a loss. This would never happen in redesign.” commented Jennings.

As more and more people hold on to their present home because of the collapsing economy, redesign is becoming the decorating method of choice by consumers and professionals alike.

Barbara Jennings has over 20 years experience in the interior redesign and home staging industry. Barbara’s Academy of Staging and Redesign is the world’s largest and most affordable home study interior redesign and home staging training center.

Kitchen Remodeling: Should You Buy New Appliances?

Each year, thousands of American homeowners make the decision to remodel their homes. One of the most common reasons for a kitchen remodeling project is change. The average individual is likely to enter their kitchen, at least, eight times a day. Unfortunately, overtime you may find that your kitchen no longer looks attractive or brings you excitement. If this is how you feel about your kitchen, it may be time for a change. That change can easily be accomplished with a kitchen remodeling project.

A kitchen remodeling project means different things to different individuals. There are some homeowners who only like to change around one or two things, like their lighting fixtures and floor tiles, but there are others who want to change everything. If you are really looking to make your kitchen like a whole new kitchen, you will probably want to do a large remodeling project. A large remodeling project not only includes a large amount of work, but also a fairly large amount of time, but the end result is almost always more than worth it.

Despite the fact that a kitchen remodeling project is almost always worth it, you may still find yourself unpleased. One of the reasons for that is because of what we tend to view as a remodeling project. We often associate kitchen remodeling with just kitchen fixtures, like flooring, lights, countertops, cabinets, and sinks. As much as you change the fixtures or structures in your kitchen, you may still be reminded of your old kitchen, especially if you are using the same kitchen appliances. That is why it may also be a good idea to include replacing your kitchen appliances as part of your next kitchen remodeling project.

As previously mentioned, replacing your entire kitchen appliances may make it seem as if you are really getting a new kitchen. In addition to the change, you may also enjoy the new look, especially if your current kitchen appliances are quite old. Over the past few years, kitchen appliances have changed quite a bit. Whether you are looking to purchase a new dishwasher, refrigerator, toaster, oven, microwave, or blender, you will find that you, literally, have an unlimited number of appliances to choose from. Almost all of the previously mentioned kitchen appliances come in more than one color; therefore, whatever color or design you are looking for, you should easily be able to find it. Matching your new kitchen appliances to your new kitchen décor or theme, after the remodeling has been finished, is the best way to get the perfect kitchen.

Although there are a number of reasons why you should including buying new kitchen appliances as a part of your kitchen remodeling project, you may it expensive to do so. If you are on a limited budget, it may be best to focus on the remodeling first. New kitchen appliances can wait, but a new kitchen countertop may not be able to. Once you have altered the overall design of your kitchen, you can then start worrying about new appliances. If you are trying to save money, it may be a good idea to purchase one appliance at a time. Even if it takes you a year to afford all of the new kitchen appliances that you wanted, you will get there aftertime, without having to go broke all at once.

As you can see, there are a number of different reasons why you should replace your old kitchen appliances when remodeling your kitchen. Even though there are a number of benefits to doing so, you do not have to if you don’t want to. The decision is completely yours to make.
